SUNDAY,29 March 2010, 11.00 AM - I am writing this journal for sure because it is compulsory. You might think that I am not using the proper title. I am sorry in advance because I am not very good on writing things if it is a official or thick book language standard. I am using a bit of daily language to help me to generate ideas due to first time practical and it really scared me. I am sorry once again and I would like to write it in a fun and relax way.
I have been doing my practical for a week (include Saturday and Sunday) and I have not enter the class for mathematics class. I was lucky to have a replacement call and I entered my class which is 4 Brilliant. It was only a short time since the teacher before me took a bit longer and I do not mind since it was only a replacement class.
It was the first time I entered the class, some of them I knew already since I accompany them at drum practice for the Sukan Tahunan. It is a totally different environment since and I can see the class a bit full. The teachers there explain to me that it happen due all lack of class since all the class were change to morning session.
Maybe you will say I might be silly because saying the kids are “angel-devil”. I am not saying that there are real demon nor devil (evil creature). But what I am saying here that there are such a beautiful creature and their attitude sometimes make me smile. However, ironically, behind their cute smile lies a very dangerous behaviour. I smell something scary because there asked me about this question;
“Cikgu, cikgu satu bulan saja kan..”
“Cikgu.. cikgu praktikal saja kan”
Their statement make me a little bit scared because my first impression of all the kids was majority will be the naughty angel. However, sometimes their naughty make me smile and shown my precious dimple. A pupil asked me, “..Teacher. teacher sudah kawin kah?” .It is sound creepy but I smiled because need to controlled myself. If I was not a teacher at that time, I am sure I will laugh out loud.
Maybe you were wondering why I am writing about these cute little “angel-devils”, it is because of what the Headmaster told us. It is totally different if we compare pupils from Sekolah Kebangsaan(SK) with Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan(SJK) and private schools.
“So, what is the connection between the statement I wrote and the statement verbally spoken by your Headmaster?”
Thank you myself for asking that question before I started my journal. In my point of view, pupils is the main goal in our today teaching and learning process. It is why the standard of SK with SJK and private school different after the culture of the school itself.
Now I will tell you how it is work.
1) The objective and learning outcomes are both mentioned about the pupils and for sure it is about the pupils
2) The objective achieve is determine by pupils’ understanding
3) The objective will only achieve if the pupils give co-operation.
4) The pupils might not give co-operation if they are too naughty and distract the teaching and learning process.
5) If the not helped us, I am 95% sure that we hard to attract their attention.
6) As conclusion, the pupils are our key of success of daily teaching and learning session.
“So what should we do?”
Good question! A clap for you.
So, this is my suggestion to make sure we achieved our objective;
1) The pupils are too naughty
2) So, we need to control them
3) To control them we need a plan.
4) A plan mean RPH, Rancangan Pengajaran Semester, Rancangan Pengajaran Tahunan
5) A good plan come from a good teacher
6) A good teacher have his ability to control
7) If he managed to control the class, so, the pupils would love to learn
8) If they love to learn, they will learn with all their heart.
9) They will understand what we deliver.
10) Objectives achieve.
Last but not least, I would like to tell you kids is just like a plain paper. We as the “big guy” should colour them with a proper colour. I understand if the culture of the school is already like that you as the man and women can stand up and make a different. I took this quote from our Headmaster;
“You are the customer. If they serve you with Nasi Campur, then you will only have Nasi Campur.”
“Different people will have different appetite. If they only serve you with 3 dishes. You can eat only that 3 dishes. But, does the regular Nasi Campur satisfy your appetite, you may want air sirap, chicken wings and eggs to satisfy you.”
You got what I am trying to say? Your appetite it the kids and the Nasi Campur and others meal is your strategy to teach them. Do take time and think about this.
